The American Heritage Dictionary defines strategic as “highly important to an intended objective”.  Throughout the process, it is imperative that we give similar consideration to the “intent” of the individual as well as the measure of the objective.  Having an objective alone does not result in the desired outcome, however if we exercise our intent towards a desired objective we are more likely to reach the goal.  Having a clearly defined and documented PSP is like a roadmap that will guide you through the maze of activities required to obtain your objective.  As you make your way down the road of success, you will come to many crossroads at which you must make a decision.  Which way should you go?  What is the right thing to do?  With the PSP, you will have already worked through the issues and decisions regarding your final destination.  The only decisions that you will be faced with during your journey is which route should be taken to reach the destination.
